Seodaemun Prison

The following pictures were taken at Seodaemun Prison. This is the Auschwitz of Korea. This is where the Japanese took Korean political prisoners and interrogated, tortured and killed them. It is a sad place but so fun of life.

Out side the gates are huge gatherings of old people, many of whom still remember that time. I was walking in the park connected to the prison when I spotted and elderly gentelman trying to knock chestnuts out of a tree. I offered him help and we began to chat. I asked if he could remember the Japanese occupation and he said "Of course, I am 90 years old." The Japanese left in 1945. We chatted and he told me about his life suring that time and that he comes here now to see old friends and to ensure that it "never happens again!" It was if they were all defying the past. Gathering and sharing love and friendship. It was soooo nice to see all these old people, not allowing the horrible past disrubt their happiness!

Anyway, enjoy the pics!
